How you can help!
Write a Letter of Support
- Grant agencies look for community support.
- They like networking and coalitions.
- Letters of support facilitate success in obtaining grants.
- Examples of items that you might want to include:
- Why are you or is your group or agency concerned about lack of access to dental care?
- Why do you feel a nonprofit dental clinic would benefit the community?
- Are you or is your agency willing to provide assistance, funding, technical support, etc., to the project?
Tell Your Personal Story
- The difficulties of real people make the importance of access to dental care come alive to those who might provide grants or other funds or support.
- Personal stories would be used without identifying the actual person to maintain confidentiality.
- Points you might include are:
- What happened to you or someone you know?
- How it affected you or them (caused a child to miss or not do well in school, caused someone to lose or not be able to get a job, resulted in severe pain, complicated another illness such as diabetes, etc.)
- How did you feel about this?
- Do you believe a nonprofit dental clinic would have helped prevent this situation?
