Services offered in our District office:

The Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation District offers many services to the public. In addition to technical assistance for erosion control and water quality projects we have a number of services available in our Ellsworth office. Some of the in-office services offered are:

  • Medium intensity soil surveys and soil maps for soil scientists, site evaluators, and landowners
  • Flood maps for Hancock County
  • Aerial photographs for viewing
  • Technical assistance for soil erosion prevention and abatement
  • Engineering services for municipalities and individuals
  • Water testing information
  • Soil test kits for farmers and gardeners
  • Nutrient management plans for farmers
  • Forestry information including regulations, lists of foresters and timber sales agreements
  • Bulb, tree, and shrub sales for conservation plantings and trout sales for stocking private ponds
  • Technical assistance for gardeners
  • Technical assistance for farmers and agricultural concerns
  • Technical assistance for pond construction and maintenance
  • Pamphlets on general conservation, including plants, pesticides, erosion, education, pollution and wildlife

 

 

The Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation District is a Not-For-Profit Organization. All proceeds from our fundraising efforts are used to promote conservation and the wise use of our natural resources. All programs and services of the Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation District are offered on a nondiscriminatory bases without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs and marital or familial status.
