offered in our District office:
The Hancock County Soil & Water
Conservation District offers many services to the public. In addition to
technical assistance for erosion control and water quality projects we have a
number of services available in our Ellsworth office. Some of the in-office
services offered are:
Medium intensity soil surveys and soil maps for soil scientists, site
evaluators, and landowners
Flood maps for Hancock County
Aerial photographs for viewing
- Technical assistance for soil erosion prevention and abatement
- Engineering services for municipalities and individuals
- Water testing information
Soil test kits for farmers and gardeners
Nutrient management plans for farmers
Forestry information including regulations, lists of foresters and
timber sales agreements
Bulb, tree, and shrub sales for conservation plantings and trout sales for
stocking private ponds
Technical assistance for gardeners
Technical assistance for farmers and agricultural concerns
Technical assistance for pond construction and maintenance
- Pamphlets on general conservation, including plants, pesticides,
erosion, education, pollution and wildlife

The Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation
District is a Not-For-Profit Organization. All proceeds from our fundraising
efforts are used to promote conservation and the wise use of our natural
resources. All programs and services of the Hancock County Soil & Water
Conservation District are offered on a nondiscriminatory bases without regard to
race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs
and marital or familial status.
